now i know why pregnant women step backwards on the scale

i stepped on the scale this morning. when i saw the number reading back i finally got it. i now can fully appreciate why pregnant women step on the scale backwards. sometimes you just don't want to know. needless to say, i'm at the heaviest i have ever been in my life and while i know i can attribute the recent weight gain to twinkle, the thought of having to lose what i've gained (and then some) is daunting --esp with a new baby. but my health and overall need to to be at a healthy weight and condition will help me find the discipline again to slim down and get there. while i don't want to be twig (it would never work), i certainly want to be toned, strong and really good fitness level.

it's hard to believe that we're almost at week 30 -- just a couple of days away. last friday, i had another ultrasound after seeing my OB earlier in the week. based on my belly measurements and weight gain, i was tracking to be further along than what was originally marked. i reminded her that my nuchal tranlucency test and 20 week ultrasound also tracked different delivery dates that were sooner than june 17 -- so she ordered another ultrasound to get a better measurement.

twinkle is not arriving on june 17. nor is he arriving on june 10. the new due date is june 6! when we found this out, we realized we were well into our third trimester and that it's crunch time. while we've made progress -- we still have much more to do including securing our daycare plans, adding insulation to the house, find a pediatrician, finish setting up twinkle's bedroom, gather hand me downs/ gently used baby gear from friends, attend childbirth prep and child care classes, read the next set of parenting and childcare books, finalize my maternity leave plans at work, find someone to do my work while i'm gone, and wrapping things up to make sure i don't leave land mines or ticking time bombs for my contractor. it's a bit daunting to finish all of this in 10 weeks. =|

still b and i are super excited and really looking forward to meeting twinkle in person. we are looking forward to seeing his face and hearing his voice. and we're certainly looking forward to see how our little one grows up... the latest ultrasound (at 29 weeks) really shows how much he has grown and it's a reminder that time will fly and before we realize it, our twinkle will be off to college.

ENJOY THIS TIME and know that even if the ball isn't officially passed on to your contractor at work; even if you don't take any more birthing classes or read any more parenting books; even if the baby's crib isn't built yet --- that everything would work out JUST FINE. =)
